European League of Legends Tournaments
The NOXXAN Cup is a low elo tournament designed to have a fair competition amongst gold-ish teams with no "overlord" dominating the whole tournament and by that denying the fun for the other competitors.
Thats why we decided to deny entry to this cup for teams ranked Platinum V or higher, whereas a players individual rank can reach up to Platinum I.
It is a small tournament for up to 16 teams in order to be able to customize the tournament for the needs of the teams.
We are a small group of gamers from Germany and after playing in a few externally hosted tournaments we decided to create our own cup, unfortunatly we did not stop after the NOXXAN Cup and now we have the NOXXAN Series as well. Fun should be the main goal but competition is a part in our tournaments too.
But what, or rather who, is NOXXAN? Noxxan is a player himself, well, once he called himself Noxxan. He is playing League of Legends since the beta and is stil not better than the average LoL player :P . We needed a brand name for our tournaments and decided to devote our work to him as a thank you for all the effords (any money^^) he put in LoL and our group of players.
We want all of our tournaments to provide a fair and competitive stage for teams to show off what they are able to accomplish, thats why we put a lot of efford in our set of rules. It regulates most of the problems that may have to be solved during a tournament, for all further problems for which there is no exact regulation to be found in our rules we installed the "NOXXAN administration", 2 players who are not allowed to take part in the tournament themselves and are bound to the rules. They are in charge of finding a fair solution for everything concerning the tournament.
Lastly we want to wish every player good luck! Have fun participating in our tournaments.
The NOXXAN Series is a regulary occuring tournament, it will be played every three month.
It is designed to provide a bigger stage for more teams with less paperwork to be done, no regulations of eligibility other than the need to own 16 champions and a signup at battlefy.com.
64 teams of any elo will be divided in 16 groups, the best 32 teams will advance into the elimination phase.
Every match exept the final, which will be a best of 3, will be played as a best of 1.
We think that holding a group stage before diving into the elimination phase is a smart way to give every team a fair chance to proof that they are good enough to compete.
By having multible teams advance from groups we remove that factor of randomness: how strong is your first opponment and do you have a bad game. For further explanations on why it is useful for you check out this video on competitive eSports.
